The history of Christmas tree
The history of Christmas tree comes from Germany. In the 16th century devout Germans brought into their houses the decorated trees. Some was made wooden pyramids and then decked them with lights and plants. Candles was hunged on a Christmas tree by Martin Luther in the 16th century too. Inspiration for lights appears during walk. Martin Luther one winter evening noticed light of stars twinkling amidst plants.
Holiday tree in culture of the USA
Small group of people know that the most 19th century residents of America treated holiday trees as oddity. The first record about Christmas tree in that area appeared in 1830s and say about settlers from German as a owners of holiday tree. Some say that the Pennsylvania German settlements had Christmas trees even in 1747. However, as late as the 1840s holiday trees were seen as symbols of pagan and they weren’t accepted by majority of Americans.
The tradition of carols
The definition of „carol” in fact means dance or a song of joy and praise. In the past carols were songs of pagans those were played during Winter Solstice celebrations when members of event danced around circles of stone. Early Christians inspired pagan songs and prepared Christian songs. In 129 the song „Angel’s Hymn” was known and sung during Christmas service in Rome. Other Christmas hymn was created in 760 for the Greek Orthodox Church. After that time more and more composers in Europe started creating carols. However the most of carols was sung in Latin and because of that many Christians had lost interest those things.
