Santa Claus in UK – how it started?

That year in Canada and United States became known the poem „A Visit from St. Nicholas”. Right in it we can find the very first mention about Santa. Thomas Nasta – political cartoonist also affected on concept of Santa, which is known nowadays. Santa – history of letters

In 1871 Thomas Nast caricaturist drew Santa in their cabinet. Old man was reading received letters and selected sheets into two piles. Pile of sheets from naughty children’s parents was much extensive then second pile. We can treat it as primal reference to contemporary tradition of writting messages to the Santa Claus. A few years later that caricaturist drew a painting of someone who puts envelope with sign „St. Claus North Pole” in a letterbox.
